RESEARCH
Rural Wide Network tries to determine the actual needs of rural and deprived communities in northern Ghana by carrying out regular research works on various aspects of rural life to identify areas that require intervention. Our research covers the following areas:
Education Enhancement:
- Assessing the levels of education in rural communities, including literacy rates, school enrollment, and dropout rates.
- Evaluating classroom conditions, infrastructure, and accessibility to determine areas for improvement.
- Identifying the availability and adequacy of teaching and learning materials, such as textbooks, stationery, and technological resources.
Agriculture and Crop Production:
- Researching suitable crop varieties for specific communities based on their environmental conditions, soil quality, and rainfall patterns.
- Conducting studies on sustainable farming practices, including organic farming, crop rotation, and water conservation techniques.
- Identifying challenges faced by farmers and exploring solutions, such as improved irrigation systems and pest management strategies.
- Investigating market opportunities for local farmers to ensure a ready market for their agricultural products.
Climate and Environmental Research:
- Monitoring rainfall patterns and climate change impacts on rural communities to enhance their resilience and adaptation strategies.
- Assessing the availability of clean water sources, especially during drought periods, and exploring potential solutions like rainwater harvesting.
- Raising awareness about environmental conservation, deforestation, and the importance of preserving biodiversity.
Livestock Production:
- Evaluating the livestock resources and practices in rural areas, including the types of animals commonly raised and their productivity levels.
- Identifying suitable livestock breeds for the local environment, considering factors like disease resistance, adaptability, and productivity.
- Investigating market demand and opportunities for livestock products, such as meat, milk, and other by-products.
We belief that by conducting research before projects are designed and rolled out, Rural Wide Network would be in a better position to contribute to the development and empowerment of rural communities in northern Ghana. We belief it is important to engage with local stakeholders, community leaders, and government agencies to ensure that projects are aligned with the specific needs and aspirations of the communities served.
